Terms, Privacy & Refunds

Last updated 21 July 2026

This page explains the rules for using Dearly Peculiar, what happens when you buy, how refunds work, and how we handle your information.

Terms

What we provide

Dearly Peculiar provides small hosted widgets that can be customised on our website and embedded in Notion or another compatible service. After buying, you can log in using your purchase email, customise the products included in your purchase, and copy your personal embed link.

Our widgets require an internet connection and depend on our hosted service and third-party platforms such as Notion. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Notion. Changes made by a third-party platform, browser or device may affect how a widget appears or works.

Your personal licence

A purchase gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for your own personal, non-commercial use.

A freelancer may not use a personal licence for a client. A teacher may not use it for a class workspace. A company may not use it internally. A widget may not be included in a free or paid template distributed to other people.

Your account and access

You must use an email address that you control. Login links, licence details and personal embed links must be kept private. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account or links.

We may temporarily restrict access where we reasonably believe an account or paid link has been shared, compromised or used outside this licence. We will normally contact you before taking permanent action.

Ownership

Dearly Peculiar retains ownership of the widgets, code, designs, illustrations, themes, branding, website content and documentation. Buying a product gives you permission to use it under these terms; it does not transfer ownership to you.

You retain any rights you have in text, dates, labels or other information you enter into a widget. You give us permission to process that information only as needed to display and operate the widget.

Prices and payment

Prices, taxes, billing frequency and everything included in a purchase are shown before payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.

One-time purchases do not renew automatically. Subscriptions renew at the displayed billing interval until cancelled. You can cancel a subscription through the available Stripe or account-management flow and retain access until the end of the paid period.

One-time purchases and availability

A one-time purchase is not a promise that the hosted service will operate forever. We may improve, replace or retire features and widgets. If we plan to discontinue a paid product or the service, we will give reasonable notice where practicable and consider a reasonable remedy for recent purchases.

Quality and support

We aim to provide widgets that match their descriptions and work with reasonable care. Software can sometimes contain errors or be affected by third-party changes, so we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Responsible use

Do not use a widget for illegal activity or as the only record for critical, financial, medical, safety or emergency information. You remain responsible for keeping copies of information that matters to you.

Liability

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for losses caused solely by Notion, Stripe, internet providers, browsers, devices or other services outside our reasonable control.

We do not exclude liability where the law does not allow us to do so.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page when the service or law changes. Material changes affecting an active paid subscription will be communicated reasonably. Changes will not remove rights you have already acquired without a valid reason.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep any mandatory consumer protections available where you live.

Refunds and cancellations

Immediate digital access

Our products include immediate access to hosted digital widgets and customisation features. Before immediate access begins, checkout may ask you to expressly request immediate supply and acknowledge that you will lose the usual 14-day right to cancel once supply begins.

This acknowledgement must be collected during checkout. This page alone does not remove your cancellation rights.

When we will help

Please contact us if:

We will first try to repair the problem or restore access within a reasonable time. Where that is not possible or appropriate, we may provide a replacement, price reduction or refund in accordance with your statutory rights.

Change-of-mind refunds

Once immediate access has begun following your express consent and acknowledgement, we do not normally provide a refund simply because you changed your mind. This does not affect your rights where a product is faulty, misdescribed or not supplied.

Subscriptions

Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals. Access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Cancellation does not automatically refund the current billing period, although statutory cancellation or fault-related rights may apply separately.

Requesting a refund

Email [email protected] with your purchase email, the product concerned and a short description of the problem. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Your bank or payment provider controls how quickly the refund appears.

Privacy

Who controls your information

Dearly Peculiar is the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us at [email protected].

What we intentionally keep

We do not intentionally collect your full card details. Stripe handles payment information.

Technical information

Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend and ordinary web-server systems may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser details, security logs, session information and necessary cookies. This can happen even though we do not use advertising trackers or try to build a profile about you.

If we record the host on which a paid embed loads, we use only the minimum information reasonably needed to investigate licence sharing and protect paid access. We do not use it to read the content of your Notion pages.

Why we use it

Who processes it

These providers process only the information needed for their role and may process data outside the UK using recognised contractual or legal safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep account and entitlement information while needed to provide access. We keep required transaction and tax records for the period required by law, which may commonly be up to six years. Short-lived login and security records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary. Saved customisations are removed when no longer needed or when the related account is deleted, unless we must retain limited information for legal reasons.

Cookies and local storage

We use only technologies needed to run the service, remember widget settings, keep accounts secure and process payments. We do not use behavioural advertising cookies. If we introduce non-essential analytics or marketing cookies, we will explain them and request consent where required.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us for a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to its use or receive certain information in a portable format. Some information cannot be deleted immediately where we must keep it for tax, fraud-prevention or legal purposes.

You may complain to us first. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Marketing

We do not use purchase or login emails for unrelated marketing unless you separately choose to receive it. We do not sell or rent personal information and do not show behavioural advertising.

Children

The paid service is intended for people who can lawfully enter into a purchase contract. Anyone under 18 should have permission from a parent or guardian before buying.
