Some tasks deserve a slightly silly presentation. If a pile of admin is going to take up part of the afternoon, I think it can be a boss with a health bar.

Boss HP and Loot Chest are two gamified Notion widgets you can use together. Boss HP turns a goal into a boss you damage as you make progress. Loot Chest holds a reward to open when you have earned it.

Start with your own hero

Hero Card belongs here too. It gives your life RPG page a name and portrait: tap the name to rename it and the portrait to upload an image. You can be the hero of this little setup.

Trait Radar sits beside it as a chart of the traits you choose. Double-tap a label to rename it, tap the label to raise the value and tap its dot to lower it. You could use creativity, patience or focus, with your own notes about what those mean. The values are yours to set.

Give the boss a manageable job

Use the pencil at the top right of Boss HP to set the boss, its HP and its reward. Choose a task with an end you can recognise, such as sorting a folder of receipts or drafting a piece of writing.

Then write the actual steps in Notion nearby. For a writing session, those might be an outline, a first section, a second section and a read-through. Decide what a tap of damage means before you begin. That little rule makes the health bar easier to use consistently.

Keep the reward small enough to enjoy

In Loot Chest, tap the pencil at the top right to set your rewards. Tap the chest to open one once you have earned it. Your reward could be a reading break, an episode of something or time on a hobby.

The two widgets do not automatically check each other. You decide when the work is done and when to open the chest. I would keep that arrangement simple, especially for a task that already feels like a lot.

One boss is plenty to start with

Put Boss HP above a short checklist and Loot Chest beneath it. A page full of unfinished bosses could become quite a crowd. Starting with one gives the game a clear finish.

If the task changes, change your steps too. The point is to make progress visible in a way you enjoy. Some days a plain checkbox will suit you better, and it can live on the same page.

How to add the pair to Notion

Open each widget's customise page and copy its embed link. In Notion, type /embed, paste the link and resize the block. Keep your checklist outside the widgets so you can edit the steps easily.

Try Boss HP on one small project first. If you enjoy finishing the bar, give it a chest to go with it!
